Max is the director of the Political Belief Lab, an independent non-profit research lab. Max was previously a scientist at the Polarization and Social Change Lab as part of the Stanford Impact Labs. Max has a Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities in social psychology. He is an alumnus of Stanford Ignite, and he enjoys working on entrepreneurial projects that bring people joy. Max is the designer of the board game "Publish or Perish: A Satirical Party Game About Academia."
Max's research has been published in many academic journals, including the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, and featured in the Washington Post, the New Yorker, Wired, Minnesota Daily, NewsBreak, Pacific Standard, Dimensions Sciences, Under the Cortex, Let’s Talk Polarization, Why Racism, and GPT-4 Technical Report.
Max has delivered numerous talks in academic conferences and universities including Stanford and Harvard and was consulted by organizations such as OpenAI and the White House for his expertise.
Max is also the designer of the board game Publish or Perish: A Humorous Party Game about Academia.
