I am Hui Bai (柏翙), but everyone calls me "Max."
After growing up in Beijing, I came to The University of Minnesota -
Twin Cities in 2009 for my undergraduate education. In 2015, I continued my academic career at The University of Minnesota - Twin Cities as a social psychology PhD student. I have three inter-related programs of research. You can find more details about them below.
The Critical Roles of Values and Ideological Orientation in Our Social Life and Politics
Ongoing Social Changes: Demographic Shift and Its Psychological Consequences
Bringing Fresh Perspectives to Old Debates with Innovative Methodologies and Statistical Approaches
The first part of my research program examines how values and beliefs about society shape attitudes, behaviors, and identity (e.g., how social dominance orientation changes Whites’ racial identity centrality). Click to learn more.
My second research focus is the psychological consequences of social changes. I look at how people react to the numerical decline of the White American population, the growth of the global Muslim population, and multiracial persons' gradual replacement of racially distinctive groups in the US. Click to learn more.
In the third part of my research program, I speak to ongoing debates using innovative methodologies and help make sense of data irregularities with novel use of statistical procedures. Click to learn more.
